Who can join?
Anyone can join the Playdate dating app, as long as they are a single parent.
Why use Playdate?
We are the UK’s first dating app designed specifically for single parents. We aim to connect like-minded single parents and help them find confidence in dating again, and ultimately find love. We were founded by a single mum who used her own experiences to develop the best app possible – she truly understands what dating as a single parent is like.
Everyone on the app is a single parent – you’re all in the same boat. You can match without the anxiety that your date might be put off by you having children. Plus, your safety is paramount so we use user verification to ensure everyone on the app is who they say they are.
Some of the features we are most proud of include:
- Matchmaking – we’ll find potential matches in your area that meet your criteria. But unlike most dating apps, we don’t just use location and age. You can set filters based on whether or not they are open to having more children and their single status e.g. divorced, widowed, separated- enabling you the best chance of meeting a suitable and like-minded match.
- Babysitting – one of the main things that puts single parents off dating is finding childcare you can trust. That is exactly why we’ve partnered up with the UK’s no.1 sitter app, Bubble, to provide stress-free childcare solutions and enable you to go on that date.
- Invisibility – a dating app is probably one of the last places you want to bump into your ex. This premium feature enables you to become invisible on the app to a specific user. Simply input their email address and we’ll do the rest.
What’s the story behind Playdate?
Playdate was founded by single mum Nevine, who found online dating quite daunting. She felt that the current mainstream apps seemed to cater for the more adventurous types – which made it even more daunting as being spontaneous when you have children can feel impossible at times.
Nevine says – “As a parent, you have responsibilities and you are juggling a million things at once. Your time is precious. As most single parents looking for a meaningful relationship or a long-term partner, I would much rather date someone who is in the same boat, a fellow single parent who understands what it means to be a parent and also would automatically have a sense of added responsibility about them”.
How does Playdate work?
Create your profile
A simple guided step by step registration process helps you to create your profile and choose how you would like other users to view yours. Plus, with user verification, you can be sure everyone is who they say they are
Set your filters
To ensure you get the right matches, you can then set your filters based on what is important to you, whether it is age, distance from you, or whether or not you wish to have more children.
Discover your matches
View your matches as a result of your preferences and filters and simply request to chat with those that seem to tick all the boxes. No swiping left or right, you simply accept to chat or not.
Start chatting
Once you have accepted a chat, you can start instant messaging with your prospective matches to get to know each other. Our Premium Membership includes audio and video messaging too.
How much does Playdate cost?
Playdate is completely free.
However, we do offer a premium subscription which comes with tons of extra features.
